Dr. Victor Mbarika is a faculty member of the College of Business at Southern University and A&M College located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and is the founding director of the University’s International Center for Information Technology and Development. He is also a Visiting Professor at Makerere University Business School in Kampala, Uganda, as well as at several other Universities. Additionally, he is an information and communications technology (ICT) consultant with various governmental and private agencies.

With over 100 academic publications, Dr. Mbarika has authored 3 books, and his research on ICT diffusion in developing countries and on multimedia learning has appeared or will appear in 38 peer reviewed journals, 5 book chapters and over 60 national and international conference publications. His scholarly publications and work have appeared in numerous journals and in major media outlets such as Reuters and The Associated Press, including numerous radio and TV appearances.

He has received multiple research and teaching grants and fellowships, amounting to over $1.25 million, from the National Science Foundation, NASA, KPMG, Microsoft, Southern Regional Education Board and the Louisiana Board of Regents. In addition, Dr. Mbarika has received the prestigious Fulbright Program grant. He also holds over 20 research, teaching and service excellence awards and has been featured on the cover page of several magazines, highlighting his ICT research and consulting activities.

He is Editor-in-Chief of The African Journal of Information Systems and serves as senior board member for several other journals, such as IEEE Transactions on IT in Biomedicine. Dr. Mbarika is Founder of the Cameroon Computer and Network Center. He is a member of the Association of Information Systems, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Information Resources Management Association.

He holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems (MIS) from the U.S. International University, a M.S. in MIS from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Ph.D. in MIS from Auburn University.
